Poplar Bluff native Tom Wright was voted president-elect of the Missouri Hearing Society at the organization’s spring meeting March 3-5 in Kansas City.
Wright is a board-certified hearing instrument specialist for Miracle-Ear of Poplar Bluff. A lifelong Poplar Bluff resident, Wright is a 15-year veteran of the hearing health industry and has worked with Miracle-Ear since 2018.
Wright has served on the MHS Board of Directors since 2018 and is the chairman of its Legislative Committee. He will serve two years as the president-elect before being installed for a two-year term as president beginning in 2024.
An active member of the Poplar Bluff community, Wright is also involved in the Lions Club and Business Networking International. He regularly speaks with Poplar Bluff civic groups to promote the Miracle-Ear Foundation, which provides free hearing aids to individuals who couldn’t otherwise afford them.
“Helen Keller said ‘Blindness separates us from things but deafness (or hearing loss) separates us from people,’” Wright said. “What we try to do to the best of our ability is help people get back the ability to interact with people and be social again whether it’s coffee with your friends or holidays with family members because we do not want people to feel like they have to suffer alone in silence.”
