A Campbell man is facing domestic assault charges after an incident that allegedly occurred over the weekend in Dunklin County.

Garrett L. McLane, 28, of Campbell is charged with the Class A felony of first-degree domestic assault resulting in serious physical injury and the Class D felony of second-degree domestic assault.

According to the probable cause statement by Dunklin County Sheriff’s Deputy Chris Cobb, he was dispatched to a residence in the 17200 block of Deer Run Drive in northern Dunklin County in reference to an assault. The caller reportedly said McLane allegedly assaulted a man and that McLane was “highly intoxicated on drugs.“

Cobb spoke to the man after he was treated at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, according to law enforcement reports.

The deputy said the entire left side of the individual’s face was severely swollen, he had a cut on his lip and had been bleeding from his left ear.

The alleged victim said McLane was supposed to go to rehab that morning and was arguing about not wanting to go. The individual told officers he went into the living room to see what was going on and saw McLane standing over the alleged victim’s wife, choking her.

According to the complaint filed by Nicholas Jain, Dunklin County Prosecuting Attorney, McLane “knowingly caused serious physical injury to (the alleged victim) by striking (him), and (the alleged victim) and (McLane) were family or household members in that (the alleged victim) and (McLane) were related by marriage.”

McLane currently is being held at the Butler County jail on a $35,000 cash-only bond.
