Peck West, 94, passed quietly Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, after a short hospital stay. He was born Oct. 10, 1947, to Buford and Rosie (Wills) West of Arab. He married Ella Dee Cookemboo June 18, 1949. Peck West, 94, passed quietly Tuesday, Feb. 8, 2022, after a short hospital stay.

He was born Oct. 10, 1947, to Buford and Rosie (Wills) West of Arab. He married Ella Dee Cookemboo June 18, 1949.

Peck made his home in Wayne County on the Square W Ranch. He was buried next to Dee in the family cemetery on their ranch.

Peck was a big animal lover. There was never an animal that didn’t like him. He especially loved horses and enjoyed working his team of horses on the ranch and saw milling. He saw milled most of his life, and was a goat farmer,

Peck had a strong Christian faith and loved to tell stories from his past, even if you weren’t listening.

He is survive by his daughter, Rose West Helton of Poplar Bluff, and his son, Herman (Rita) West of Lowndes. He also leaves behind six grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren.

A celebration of life will be from 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 20, at the West homestead. All family and friends are welcome.
