Crossroads Ministry of Poplar Bluff invites everyone to attend a Super Bowl party at its 416 South C St. location. The event is free and starts at 4 p.m. Sunday.

The party will begin with a unity service of music and words of worship. The music will be provided by the Crossroads band and the words by Crossroads director Jimi Waggoner. The service will take about half an hour, said Anthony Rommel.

Rommel is one of the founding members of Crossroads Ministry, a community outreach organization that has been helping Butler County men with addictions since 2016. Their in-home facility and faith-based recovery program have enabled hundreds of men to get restarted in a new life of work and fellowship in the religious community.

One of the goals of Crossroads Ministry is to place the men who graduate from its program of recovery into a home church. It does this through a guest speaker program, said Rommel. Every Sunday, the services held by the ministry feature a speaker from a local church.

“That way, if someone hears a speaker they like, they can go to that church,” said Rommel.

He is hoping the Super Bowl party attendees hear a message they like or that someone who needs the ministry’s help will hear the message and come to them.

The game will be shown on the ministry’s giant television screen and attendees will be treated to a wide selection of party foods. There will be chicken wings, barbecue pork, sliders, hot dogs and catfish.

“Come on by and have a good time,” said Rommel. “If you like the Super Bowl, you will like this event.”
