Mildred Ann Hicks, 80, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, gained her heavenly wings Monday, Feb. 7, 2022, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center, surrounded by family.
Mildred was born March 7, 1941, to Warren and Goldie (Stucker) Ethridge in Poplar Bluff. She married Jesse “Buck” Hicks Sr. March 12, 1959, in Poplar Bluff.
Mildred was a light to everyone she met. She had a heart of gold and a patient, forgiving nature. She always managed to stay positive, no matter what curve balls life threw her way. She had a witty personality and loved her family fiercely. Her greatest joys in life were her grandchildren; she never missed a chance to share how proud she was of all of them.
Mildred is survived by one son, Danny (Diane) Hicks Sr.; three grandchildren, Danny (Ciara) Hicks Jr., Jesse (Kayla) Hicks III, and Chelsea (Jared) Rice; five great-grandchildren, Jesse, Mia, Gavin, Leighton, and Emma; six sisters, Maxine (Bill) Hendrickson, Dorothy “Dotty” Kiser, Hazel Williams, Mary (Jim) Champion, Catherine Koch, and Patsy “Patty” (James) Harrelson; three brothers, John (Jan) Ethridge, James (Emily) Ethridge, and David (Irene) Ethridge; sister-in-law, Shirley Ethridge.
Mildred is proceeded in death by her parents; husband, Jesse “Buck” Hicks Sr.; one son, Jesse Hicks Jr.; one sister, Beulah Ethridge; and two brothers, Warren Ethridge Jr., and Paul Ethridge.
Visitation will be held from 10 -11 a.m. Thursday, Feb. 10, 2022, at Fitch-Hillis Funeral Home. Funeral service to follow beginning at 11 a.m., with officiating by Pastor Ken King. Burial will take place at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery where she will be laid to rest next to her husband and son.
