Two Poplar Bluff City Council seats will be contested in an April election, along with other seats from area school districts.
Filing closed Tuesday for the April 5 election, which includes municipal and school board seats.
City Council
The terms of Ward 1 council member Lisa Parson and Ward 3 council member Barbara Ann Horton are expiring.
Both Parson and Horton filed for re-election. Parson was elected to the council in April 2019. Horton is seeking her third term, after first being elected to the council in April 2016.
Also filing to run against Parson were Robert Duckett and David D. Williams of Ward 1, according to the city clerk’s office.
Billy Depew filed Tuesday to run against Horton, officials said.
Winners in wards 1 and 3 will be elected to three-year terms.
School Districts
The Poplar Bluff, Neelyville and Twin Rivers school districts, as well as Three Rivers College, have members whose terms will expire in April.
In Poplar Bluff R-I, general members Cynthia Brown and Roger Hanner are both running for reelection.
The Twin Rivers R-X board has two general members, Lee Wright and Bruce Goodrich, who are running to keep their seats.
Neelyville R-IV school board incumbent Jill McGruder is one of four candidate to file for the two Neelyville R-IV school board positions. Others candidates are Vernon Barker, Amanda Wolfram and Chuck Reinbott.
McGruder and Jack Stull are the two outgoing candidates.
Three Rivers College board chair Gary Featherston filed for reelection.
