Junie Lee (Mayes) Pitt, 75, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away Saturday, Dec. 25, 2021.
Junie was born on June 19, 1946, to Robert and Almalee (Hert) Nixon in Poplar Bluff. She married John Howard Mayes Sr. Nov. 15, 1963, in Butler County ,Missouri. He preceded her in death on May 11, 1983. She then remarried Robert “Bob” Pitt Dec. 8, 1989, in Viburnum, Missouri.
Junie was of the Baptist faith. She was a member of the local Eagles Lodge. Junie enjoyed fishing, dancing, and listening to music. Her greatest joys in life were her beloved grandkids and great-grandkids.
Junie is survived by her husband, Bob Pitt; six children, John Howard Mayes Jr., Diane Lee Stratton, Stacy (Rodger) Pitt, Steve Pitt, Robyn Pryor, and Regina Miller; 14 grandchildren, Stephanie Stratton, Matthew Stratton, Shayna Moore, Alyssa Hargrave, Brandon Pitt, Stacy Pitt, Jasmine Alexander, Jai Pryor, Montana Roundtree, Savannah Miller, Madison Miller, Robert Pitt III, Jewell Pitt, and Adam Pitt; 12 great-grandchildren.
Junie was preceded in death by her first husband, John Mayes Sr.; one brother, Noel E. Nixon; and two sisters, Wanda M. Mayo, and Dorothy N. Nixon.
Visitation will be held from noon-1 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 30, 2021, at Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services followed by funeral service beginning at 1 p.m. Pastors Gene Hensley and Brandon Pitt will be officiating. Burial will take place at the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. MASKS WILL BE REQUIRED DURING ALL SERVICES.
