GREENVILE — Virginia N. Shell, age 96, of Greenville, Missouri, passed away Wednesday, Dec. 8, 2021, at the Greenville Health Care Center in Greenville.
She was born Oct. 25, 1925 in Gravelton, Missouri, the daughter of John Stroup and Mary (Clubb) Stroup. A lifelong resident of Wayne County, Virginia ran the Post Office and Grocery in Cascade for many years.
She was a long time member of Zion Lutheran Church in Gravelton. Virginia was married to Harold Shell May 27, 1944, in Fredericktown and he passed away March 11, 1995. Also preceding her in death are her parents, John and Mary Stroup; six brothers, Luther, Harry, Victor “Dick,” Lowell, Ken and Hollis Stroup; and two sisters, Jane Myers and Val Senter.
Survivors include three children, Beverly Birmingham and her husband Jesse, of Greenville; Renay Greer and her husband Chuck, of Williamsville, Missouri, Randy Shell and his wife Donna, of Barnhart, Missouri. Also surviving is one sister, Mary Karrigan, of Belleville, Illinois, eight grandchildren, seven great grandchildren and five great-great grandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the Morrison Funeral Chapel in Greenville. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday at the Zion Lutheran Church in Gravelton with Pastor Rick Petty officiating. Interment will be in the Zion Church Cemetery.
