The Voluntary Services Department at the John J. Pershing VA Medical Center believes music is therapeutic, and its Whole Health Team is looking for volunteers and donors for its new “Guitars for Veterans” program.

The organization is preparing to hold six-week guitar lessons for veterans and is looking for guitar donations and instructors.

Supplies needed include guitars, guitar bags, guitar capo, tuners, picks, guitar books or monetary donations to purchase such items.

Those who can help are asked to call the Voluntary Services office at 573-778-4276.

The guitar lessons will last six weeks, with each class taking approximately 60-75 minutes.

Five veterans will be able to participate in each group, and a graduation ceremony will be held upon completion of the classes.
