POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
Firefighters responded at 1:13 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 5, to Autozone, 335 N. Westwood Blvd., where an exterior neon light caught fire. Firefighters cut the power to the sign and after removing some smoldering insulation, they used a pressurized water can to cool the area where it had burned a hole into the building. Autozone staff were advised to have a sign company make repairs.

Firefighters responded at 9:37 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, to 449 W. Midland St., where a carbon monoxide detector was sounding. Occupant Shakinah Madison reported she had been cooking, and firefighters used a CO detector to determine the high CO levels. Housing maintenance is to repair the unit.

Firefighters responded at 2:05 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, to 1324 Peggy Lane, where a grass and rubbish fire had spread to two outbuildings, plus another at 2106 N. 14th St. The main home also received damage on the west end. Fire crews used 500 gallons of water to put the fire out.

Firefighters were dispatched at 12:09 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 4, to 808 N. Riverview Drive to assist EMS crews with lifting a patient.

Firefighters responded at 6:25 p.m. Friday, Dec. 3, to a report of an unattended fire in the back yard of 2505 Clearmont. They found a smoldering trash fire but nobody was home. Firefighters used a booster line and 30 gallons of water to put the fire out.
