Nathanial Kevin Ryan McCormick, 37, of the 1900 block of Broadway was arrested Thursday, Dec. 2, on suspicion of fourth degree assault pursuant to subdivisions 3 and 6, first degree trespass and resisting/interfering with an arrest. He was booked into the Butler County jail.

Johnny Frank Sauls, 52, of Wappapello was arrested Thursday, Dec. 2, on a failure to appear warrant for passing bad checks. He was booked into the Butler County jail.

Bradley Austin Ward of the 100 block of Eddy Road was arrested Thursday, Dec. 2, on suspicion of operating a motor vehicle of another knowing owner did not maintain financial responsibility, first offense. He was booked into the Butler County Jail.
POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
Firefighters responded to a vehicle fire at 1:40 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, on the roadway at 2311 Baugh Lane. The fire in the vehicle’s engine compartment and the dash compartment was extinguished. The white Chevrolet Celebrity Classics was owned by Verne Elder, 1903 Seifert Drive. Firefighters used 350 gallons of water.

Firefighters responded to an outside trash or rubbish fire at 3:12 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 2, at 619 Don St. The trash fire in the rear of the residence was already extinguished. A Poplar Buff police officer also responded. Apparently a trash fire in the roadway had spread onto neighbors’ property and burned the fence and railroad ties. Firefighters used 10 gallon of water to put out the fire.

Firefighters responded to an unauthorized leaf fire at 2102 Spring St., at 4:12 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2. Firefighters used 15 gallons of water to extinguish the fire and advised the resident of the city’s burn ordinance.

County firefighters responded to a brush fire at 3:37 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 2. The fire burned roughly three acres of land owned by Kenneth Baker.
