Firefighters responded to a call at 2:16 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at 2225 S. Westwood Blvd. Upon arrival, they found a permitted construction crew burning a structure. Firefighters advised the crew the fire should be out by dark.

Firefighters were dispatched at 11:27 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, to a motor vehicle accident at 515 E. Pine Street. They assisted EMS with packaging one patient and remained on scene until both vehicles were removed.

Noemi Peidrasanta reported at 10:57 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, that all four tires of her 2008 GMC truck were slashed while it was parked at a residence in the 1200 block of West Harper Street.

Terrie Atkins, 37, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 3:29 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, on 11th Street on a probation violation warrant and on failure to appear warrants for possession of marijuana and traffic offenses. Atkins was booked at the Butler County jail.

Christian A. Jones, 26, of Puxico was arrested at 5:34 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 24, in Stoddard County on suspicion of DWI. He was booked at the Stoddard County Jail on a 24-hour hold.

James L. Cowart, 58, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 8:13 p.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, in Butler County on suspicion of DWI (prior offender), failure to drive on the right half of the road and no insurance. He was released to medical personnel.

One person suffered minor injuries in a single-vehicle crash at 4:25 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, on Route Z, three miles west of Kewanee in Stoddard County. According to the report, James L. Durden, 51, of Lilbourn was driving a 2006 Buick Lucerne eastbound when it ran off the road and struck a ditch. Durden was taken by private vehicle to SoutheastHealth in Dexter.
