A Wappapello man was seriously injured and an Ellington man was killed in a pair of accidents earlier this week.

The first accident occurred Tuesday evening after a 54-year-old motorcyclist collided with a deer on Highway T, five miles south of Wappapello.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Charles D. Loflin, 54, of Wappapello was operating a 2013 Honda CBR motorcycle northbound at 5:40 p.m. Tuesday when it struck a deer, ejecting Loflin.

Loflin was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

The second accident occurred Wednesday evening on Highway 21, one mile south of Centerville, and resulted in the death of an 83-year-old Ellington man.

According to the MSHP, William B. Buckner, 83, of Ellington was operating a 2009 GMC Sierra northbound at 7:08 p.m. Wednesday. His vehicle ran off the right side of the roadway, then struck a house and a tree.

Buckner was pronounced dead at the scene by Reynolds County EMT J.D. Jagolivich at 8:33 p.m. that evening. His death is the 31st fatality in Troop G this year.
