CORNING, Ark. — Karon Skaggs, 73, of Success passed away Oct. 28, 2021 at NEA Baptist Hospital in Jonesboro.
Mrs. Skaggs was born July 6, 1948 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri. She was a retired teacher having taught in the Neelyville School District in Neelyville, Missouri. She held a Master’s of Science in Education and was a member of Beta Sigma Phi Sorority. She enjoyed being a member of her sorority and loved the philanthropy and service events associated with it. She enjoyed time spent with her family, especially the grandsons of whom she was most proud, and for whom she will forever be regarded as “MiMi.” In addition to her love for her family, she enjoyed traveling, especially cruises, sewing, quilting, and teaching her quilting class. She was of the Baptist faith.
On Feb. 19, 1972, she married Benny Skaggs, the love of her life of more than 50 years. Other survivors include their daughter, Shannon (Beau) Wilcox of Conway; grandchildren, Graham and Hayes Wilcox; and several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Aubrey J. and Zelda (Murrell) Ward; brother, Jay Ward; and sister, Betty Wilkerson.
Visitation will be from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, 2021 at Ermert Funeral Home in Corning. Funeral service will follow at the funeral home at 2 p.m. with Pastor Herbert Ellis officiating. Burial will be at Corning Cemetery.
