Boys & Girls Club of Poplar Bluff staff members are buzzing about a secret they want to reveal, but they are not sharing it until 11:30 a.m. Thursday at 1306 Victory Lane.
As the time grows closer, the crew is inviting everyone to hear the news at lunch.
Terri McCormick is the Boys & Girls Club of Poplar Bluff director of resource development and finance.
McCormick explained the club has been revealing video hints each week but no one has guessed the surprise.
“We are so super excited,” McCormick said. “It’s a pretty big deal.”
The guests will include parents, businesses people, and, McCormick said, “anyone is welcome to come and enjoy lunch. The kids are off school that day. So we’re really excited about having them be a part of this reveal as well. It’s a camp day. So the teams will be out there and we’ll have balloons.”
“We’re going to do something simple,” she said. “Chartwells is going to grill up some bratwurst and potato salad. It’ll be quick. If any business owners or any employees can sneak away for about 15-20 minutes for lunch, come on by and check out what all the buzz is about.”
McCormick said, “you might have heard, there’s been a lot of changes happening with Boys and Girls Club. Because of those changes, we have something big we would like to reveal to everyone on Thursday. Our admin staff has worked extremely hard just getting through the pandemic. It shows the community has come together for us, has enabled us to be able to do this and to meet the needs of the kids who need us the most.”
The reveal will take place in the parking lot unless it rains Thursday.
“We do have a game plan for if it rains,” McCormick said. “We’ll come inside, but we’re hoping the rain stays away.”
McCormick added, they will be showing off the club’s new trolleys, too.
