The Margaret Harwell Art Museum’s annual Cork + Fork fundraiser festival is 6-9 p.m. Saturday in the museum’s sculpture garden.
Wil Fischer Distributing is providing Anheuser Busch products and wine, Colton’s Steak House & Grill is catering a mesquite chicken dinner with sides, and Donut House will provide dessert.
Tickets are $30 for Friends of the museum and $35 for non-members.
Museum Director Steve Whitworth is donating $100 gift certificates from his store, Whitworth’s Gift Chest Jewelers, which are $50 apiece at Cork + Fork. Much of the event’s revenue also comes from sponsors at the event level ($1,000) and garden level ($500). Walmart, Commerce Bank and First Midwest Bank are event level sponsors. Sterling Bank, Ozark Federal Credit Union, Dowd Supply, Southern Bank and The Bank of Missouri are all garden level sponsors. Wil Fischer and Whitworth’s Gift Chest Jewelers are also event and garden sponsors, respectively, through in-kind donations.
Blaich Dental Arts is sponsoring live music by Glenn Thurman.
Money raised will cover everything from repairs and equipment to acquiring new artworks for the permanent collection.
To avoid overcrowding on Main Street, extra parking will be available at the First United Methodist Church at 500 N. Main St., the Episcopal Church of the Holy Cross at 420 N. Main St., and Fitch Hillis Funeral Services at 366 College St. Free golf cart rides will ferry people to the museum.
The Holy Cross Episcopal Church will also open its doors to host the event if the weather is bad.
“Plan one is to be under the stars in the beautiful sculpture garden, and enjoy each other’s company out there. But if the weather is bad, then we’ve got a perfect backup plan,” Whitworth said.
MHAM is located at 421 N. Main St. in Poplar Bluff. Those interested in becoming sponsors should contact Whitworth at swhitworth@pbcity.com or call the museum at 573-686-8002.
