A Poplar Bluff man was found guilty in a Butler County courtroom Thursday on charges of first-degree statutory rape, first-degree statutory sodomy and incest.

Thomas Woodham was found guilty on all three counts after just 30 minutes of deliberation by a 10 woman, two-man jury.

The case was tried before 36th Circuit Presiding Judge Michael Pritchett by Butler County Prosecutor Kacey Proctor and Assistant Prosecutor Matthew Micheal.

The case against Woodham came about from a 2017 investigation by Poplar Bluff Police Patrolman Andy Cleaveland.

Cleaveland had received a Butler County Children’s Division report refining a sexual assault Woodham allegedly was involved in.

After a forensic exam of the teenage victim, charges were submitted to the prosecutors office.

Woodham will be sentenced by Pritchett Dec. 7 and faces 30 years each on the rape and sodomy charges and four years on the incest charge.

“I would like to thank the Butler County jury for their service as well as all the professionals that work tirelessly to protect children,” Proctor said.
