Neelyville School’s Tiger Fest 2021 is back and will offer a day filled with family activities and contests Saturday, Oct. 16, at the high school. COVID caused the school to cancel the event last year.
“Come celebrate the autumn season with Tiger Nation,” said Superintendent Debra Parish said. “Tiger Fest serves as a community outreach event, while, at the same time, providing opportunities for clubs, classes, teams to raise money through various booths and raffles.”
Brandi Lumby is the Tiger Fest coordinator and booth coordinator is Jennifer Barker.
For information about available booth space or to make a reservation, contact Barker at 573-989-3815. The 10x10 booth fees are $30 and a 20x20 space is $50.
“The parade is back,” Parish said. “So if you have a hot rod or float and would like to participate please let us know.”
Geoffrey Wertenberger is in charge of the parade and anyone wanting to participated should be at the bus garage by 8:30 a.m., Parish said.
Parade winners will receive ribbons for first, second, and third places for Best Float, Best Car, Best Bike and Best ATV.
For those not interested in participating in the contests, organizers said, there will be family activities including games, face painting, food and craft booths and a bounce house. Show up in time to watch the 10 a.m. parade and at 10:30 a.m. hear the welcome and anthem.

Parish explained, “individuals or groups may lip sync. Costumes are encouraged. We prefer they sign up in advance with Lumby, Barker or with me.”
Entrants in the pet pageants may show up the day of the event and enter the animals at the Information Booth. Prizes will be gift baskets.
The Halloween Costume Contest will have various categories with ribbons for the winners. They may show up that day and enter at the Information Booth.

Age categories are early childhood and kindergarten, first-second grade, third-fourth grade, and fifth-sixth grade. First place in each category gets $15 and second place gets $10.
Each class and organization in grades 7-12 name their representatives for Mr. & Miss Tiger Fest. They are presented on stage wearing a sash naming the class or group. Each one introduces him or herself and answers a question. The selection is based on grades, poise, etc.
