Two women were seriously injured in a pair of weekend accidents in the area.

The first occurred at 3:15 p.m. Friday east of Bunker in Reynolds County, while the second occurred at 4:18 p.m. Sunday east of Doniphan in Ripley County.

According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, Sheila A. Jordan, 53, of Ellington was operating a 2018 Ford Focus westbound on Highway 72 when it ran off the right side of the roadway. The vehicle traveled back on the roadway, slid, went back off the right side of the roadway, struck a tree and overturned.

Jordan was transported by Air Evac Helicopter to Mercy St. Louis.

Two days later, James L. Martin, 19, of Doniphan was operating a 2004 Dodge 1500 eastbound on Highway 142 when it attempted to pass another eastbound 2009 Ford Fusion operated by Patricia S. Moman, 65, of Doniphan. The front of Martin’s vehicle then struck the side of Moman’s vehicle, according to the report.

Moman was transported by EMS to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
