CORNING, Ark. — JoAnn McNamee, 88, of Benton, formerly of Corning, passed away Friday, Sept. 10, 2021 at Amberwood Health and Rehab in Benton.

Mrs. McNamee was born June 12, 1933 in Corning. She was retired from the Corning School District where she worked in the cafeteria for 20 years. She was a life member of the VFW and a member of the American Legion and she loved to visit with local veterans in the Poplar Bluff, Missouri area. She loved collecting everything hummingbird related, camping, dancing with her husband, making new friends and spending time with her family. She was of the Christian faith.

On Nov. 23, 1957, she married Harold McNamee. They most recently celebrated 63 years of marriage.

Other survivors include her children Debbie (Al) Sherwin of Rockford, Illinois, Mike (Vicky) McNamee of Benton and Star Henson of Bryant; seven grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and several other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, D. D. and Gillie (Esmon) Verdier; brothers, Billy Dee and Howard Verdier; and sister, Geneva Glass.

A graveside service will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 13, 2021 at Roberts Cemetery in Neelyville, Missouri. Burial will follow at the cemetery under the direction of Ermert Funeral Home.
