Firefighters responded to a call at 7:38 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, of an unauthorized burn at 925 Spring St. Upon arrival, they found an unattended trash fire in the backyard and used a booster line and 15 gallons of water to put it out.

Firefighters responded to a call at 6:42 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, of an unauthorized burn at 2328 Thomas St. When they arrived, the owner of that home advised the fire actually was at 118 Division. Firefighters met with owner Calvin Sauls and advised him of the city’s burn ordinance, and he put the fire out.

Firefighters responded to a call of an unauthorized burn at 8:29 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, at 1700 Garfield St. Upon arrival, firefighters found a fire burning in a ditch and used five gallons of water to put it out.

Firefighters responded at 10:19 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, to a call of a CO2 detector sounding at 1828 Seifert Drive. Firefighters did not detect any CO2 with their multi meter and replaced the alarm.

Firefighters responded at 4:45 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, of an unauthorized burn at 1821 Marshall St. They discovered a small trash fire in the backyard and used 30 gallons of water to extinguish it.

Firefighters responded at 7:39 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, to a report of smoke in the area of 599 E. Pine. Firefighters went into the Casey’s store at that address and found a box, which had been stacked next to a cooler, smoking. They moved the box and advised store employees to have the cooler checked for damage.

Zachery L. Hampton, 30, of Van Buren was arrested at 12:22 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, in Reynolds County on a felony warrant for shoplifting and a misdemeanor failure to appear warrant, plus on suspicion of felony driving while revoked (third or subsequent offense), no insurance, window tint and no seat belt. He was booked at the Reynolds County jail.

Chelsea M. McKnight, 28, of Broseley was arrested at 6:41 p.m. Friday, Aug. 27, in Cape Girardeau County on a felony warrant for unlawful use of a weapon, a warrant for felony possession of a controlled substance and on suspicion of no seat belt. She was booked at the Cape Girardeau County jail.

Tittle, 62, of Kennett was arrested at 1:45 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, in Dunklin County on suspicion of DWI (alcohol), misdemeanor possession of marijuana, misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, no driver’s license and failure to drive on the right half of the roadway. He was released.

He was arrested again at 9:02 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, in Carter County on suspicion of DWI. He was booked at the Reynolds County jail on a 12-hour hold.

Marcella Alva Flores, 41, of Qulin was arrested at 4:32 a.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, on suspicion of DWI (alcohol), leaving the scene of an accident and no valid operator’s license. She was booked at the Butler County jail on a 12-hour hold.

A 13 year-old juvenile female from Festus sustained moderate injuries in a one-vehicle accident at 11:19 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 28, on Ripley County Road 160W-3, one-half mile south of U.S. Highway 160.
According to the report, the juvenile was operating a 2017 Polaris sportsman eastbound on 160W-3 when it ran off the roadway, struck a ditch and overturned, ejecting the juvenile.
The juvenile was taken by private convenience to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

A 35-year-old man sustained moderate injuries in a one vehicle accident at 12:20 p.m. Sunday, August 29, on Ripley County Road 142E-24, five miles east of Doniphan.
According to the report, Eric X. Erxleben, 19, of Doniphan was operating a 2006 Jeep Commander southbound on 142E-24 when it ran off the side of the roadway, overturned and struck a tree.
A passenger in Erxleben’s vehicle, Cody A. Mast, 35, of Poplar Bluff sustained moderate injuries and was taken by Ripley County Ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

A 17-year-old female sustained minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 2:29 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 29, at the intersection of U.S. Highway 67 and Highway C in Butler County.
According to the report, Kristina F. Ainley, 32, of Doniphan was operating a 2006 Dodge Ram southbound when it struck a southbound 2012 Ford Explorer operated by Jennifer S. Atkins, 37, of Doniphan, which was making a right turn.
A 17-year-old female passenger in Ainley’s vehicle was taken by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
