Neelyville R-IV is preparing to welcome students back to school for the 2021-2022 school year.

“We would like to announce the following important dates and information for our students and their families to know in advance and to mark on their calendars,” Superintendent Debra Parish said. “We want to make the transition from summer break to back-to-school as smooth as possible.”

The first event, Stuff the Bus, will be from 8 a.m. - 5 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 7, at Walmart. District faculty and staff will be accepting donations of school supplies. The donated supplies will be available on both campuses during Open House for students to get if needed.

Beginning from 8 a.m. - 3 p.m. Monday, Aug. 9, the building offices will be open for new enrollments. Parents/guardians must be in attendance and provide birth certificates, shot records and proof of residency.

Friday and Saturday, Aug. 13- 14, Addie’s Shoe & Sock Giveaway will be from 9 a.m..- 2 p.m. at Family Fashions Parking Lot in Poplar Bluff. An elementary student is collecting shoes and socks to give away.

Parish emphasized the district will host a Vaccination Clinic in the Neelyville High Gym from 2-5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17. Staff from the Butler County Health Department will administer COVID-19 vaccinations to anyone ages 12 and up. Also, students needing other shots for school may receive the appropriate vaccinations. Interested participants should call 573-989-3813 ext. 127 to RSVP, so the vaccines can be available. There is no charge.

Kindergarten orientation/open house will be held at 6 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 17, on the Hillview campus. Parents and kindergarten students may bring in school supplies, visit the classrooms, and meet the teachers, Parish said.

Thursday, Aug. 19, orientation and open house will be from 6-7 p.m. for grades 1-12 on both campuses. Seventh grade orientation will begin at 6:30 p.m. in the Neelyville cafeteria.

The Neelyville R-IV Tax Hearing will be in Central Office at 6:45 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 19, with the board meeting following at 7 p.m.

Monday, Aug. 23, classes begin for the 2021-2022 school year. Buildings will open and breakfast will be served at 7:30 a.m. with classes beginning at 8 a.m.

“Students should not be dropped off before 7:30 a.m.,” Parish said. “Buses will follow approximate schedules from last year. We appreciate your flexibility and understanding as final routes are established.”

Students in grades 7-12 will check out their books on the first day of school, Parish explained. They may access their schedules online through their school SIS account or collect them at Open House or the first day of school. Locker assignments will be listed on the schedules.
