William ‘Bill’ Young Howell Jr, age 82, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, died Thursday, July 29, 2021, at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center in Poplar Bluff. Mr. Howell was born May 25, 1939, in St. Louis, Missouri, son of the late Dr. William Young Howell Sr and Martha Mae ‘Peg’ Howell.
He was a member of Fellowship General Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff for many years. Bill loved being outdoors and had many hobbies that allowed him to be outside enjoying God’s creation. He had a lifelong interest in sailing and eventually learned how to build his own boats. He also enjoyed woodworking.
In June of 1962, he married Donna Kay Lake. She preceded him death on March 17, 1978. On June 28, 1986, he married Ellen Ostrom. She survives.
Also surviving are two children, Brian (Jaylene) Howell, of Arvada, Colorado and Christy (Tim) Starling, of Allen, Texas; one brother, Ellis ‘Bart’ (Margie) Howell, of St. Louis, Missouri; four grandchildren, Jayden and Jazmine Howell and Michael and Kaylin Starling.
Visitation will begin at 1 p.m. Wednesday, August 4 at Fellowship General Baptist Church, in Poplar Bluff. Funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the church sanctuary with Rev. Byron Beck officiating. Burial will be at Poplar Bluff City Cemetery. Condolences: www.whitesandersfuneralhome.com
