On Wednesday, July 28, a person reported the theft of a cellphone and debit card from inside a business in the 1300 block of North Westwood Boulevard. The investigation determined a white male picked up the phone and debit card, left the store, and used the card at a car wash and another store. Surveillance video footage provided images of the white male suspect and his vehicle.

Officer Dylan Janes located the suspect vehicle and identified the white male. The suspect gave the cellphone and debit card to Janes, and he was released pending further investigation.

Tyler Miles, 25, was arrested Thursday, July 29, at Walmart Supercenter for trespassing. He was booked into Butler County jail.

A domestic assault victim in the 500 block of Lester Street was transported by ambulance for treatment of injuries Thursday, July 29, and the suspect fled the scene prior to officers’ arrival.

Dustin Burgess, 28, of Poplar Bluff was arrested Thursday, July 29, in the 3100 block of Oak Grove Road on a failure to appear warrant for property damage. Burgess allegedly resisted efforts to handcuff him, and he was tasered once. Burgess was taken into custody without further incident and was booked into the Butler County jail.

Lesia Adams reported at 1:49 p.m. Thursday, July 29, a license plate was allegedly taken from her vehicle white it was parked in the 400 block of North Sixth Street.

Officers responded at 4:20 p.m. Thursday, July 29, to Smokin’ Aces in the 500 block of Highway 53 in reference to a fight. The investigation determined a confrontation inside the business escalated to a fight outside. April Ellsworth, 25, of Poplar Bluff, and Shaina Henderson, 21, also of Poplar Bluff, were issued summons for affray (fighting) and released.

Paul Herbst reported at 5:58 a.m. Thursday, July 29, his white 2007 GMC Yukon was stolen from the parking lot at Mile’s Resale in the 1000 block of East Harper Street. He said the vehicle was taken some time between July 27-29.

Scott Boatner reported Thursday, July 29, someone broke into coin operated machines at his car wash in the 1600 block of South Broadway. The suspect caused an estimated $1,220 in damages and stole around $40 in change.
