Sylvia Ann Mayberry, of Perryville, entered into eternal rest on July 11, 2021, at the Lutheran Home in Cape Girardeau, Missouri at the age of 83. She was born on August 24, 1937, in Sedgewickville, Missouri to the late Harry and Audell (Bloom) Richey. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Vearl Mayberry and her sisters, Mary Lou Smith, Wanda Pirtle, Janice Russell and Alma Griffith.
Sylvia is survived by her children, Kevin C. Mayberry of Jackson, Missouri, Sergeant Major (Ret. Army) Keith A. Mayberry of Killeen, Texas and Kenny (and wife, Janine) Mayberry of Cape Girardeau; four grandchildren, Kristin (and husband, Capt USMC Mike) Mayberry Sterrett of Stafford, Virginia, Sgt USMC Kory (and wife, Cassandra) Mayberry of Twentynine Palms, California, Kameron Mayberry of Cape Girardeau and Kaden Mayberry of Cape Girardeau; three great-grandchildren,and her sister, Virginia House of Perryville, Missouri along with many nieces, nephews and friends.
Sylvia was raised in Coffman, Missouri. She married Vearl Mayberry on September 18, 1958. She worked for General Electric in addition to being a homemaker and mother. As the family moved from state to state and country to country, she was the glue that held the family together. Sylvia was Baptist in faith and was a life member of the VFW Ladies Auxiliary Post 3917 of Security, Colorado. She will be fondly remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her.
A graveside service will be held on Sunday, July 18 at 2 p.m. at Hillview Memorial Gardens with Pastor David Parmley officiating. Memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society, 4207 Lindell Blvd, St Louis, MO 63108.
