Earl Edward Burnett, 77, entered into his eternal home peacefully, surrounded by family in his home July 7, 2021, in Battlefield, Missouri.
Earl was born September 28, 1943 in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, son of Mack Allen Burnett and Bertie Mae Burnett. Earl married the love of his life, Noveda Sue Archer on January 18, 1965 in Augusta, Georgia. They have been married for 54 years and have one son and one daughter.
Earl enlisted in the United States Navy in 1961 at the age of 17. He proudly served on the USS Redfin and USS Woodrow Wilson submarines. His Honorable duties were that of an electrical technician, calibrator of the guided missile launch system and an instructor. Through his eight years of service he received conduct medals and the National Defense Service Medal. He worked in sales of computers, mailing systems and operations/owner of a presort mail service for over 30 years.
Earl is preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Bertie and sister, Sandra York. Earl is survived by his wife, Noveda, of the home; son, Jay Burnett and wife, Terri of Perryville, Missouri; daughter, Deanna Haley-Brown and husband, Jeff of Republic, Missouri; one sister, Patricia Randal and husband, Ed; two brothers, Mack Allen Burnett and wife, Susie, Dale Burnett and wife, Judy; ten grandchildren, Rachel Cook and husband, Noland, Brittany Veneziano and husband, Paul, Amanda Luhring and husband, Tarl, Brittney Horrell and husband, Josh, Valerie Burnett, Madelynn Haley, Sylvia Haley, Grace Haley, Devon Brown and Danielle Brown; four great-grandchildren, Kylie Jo Luhring, Hudson Raymond Luhring, Harlin Julius Luhring, Avery Marie Horrell; numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, friends and beloved golf buddies. All who knew Earl will remember him for his kindness, his humor, his passion for golf and his devoted love for his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren and his country. Earl will be missed dearly by all who knew and loved him.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 14 from 11:30 a.m. - noon at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home, 2001 West Walnut Lawn St. Springfield, MO. Services will be follow from 12:30 p.m.-1:30 p.m. at Walnut Lawn Funeral Home.
Interment with full military honors will follow at the Missouri State Veterans Cemetery, 5201 S. Southwood Rd., Springfield, MO.
