Amos Dees, 76, went home to be with our Lord on Tuesday, June 22, 2021. He was born in Poplar Bluff, Missouri, on October 2, 1944, to Charles and Maggie Dees.
He graduated from Poplar Bluff High School and went on to attend college at Oakland City College, IUPUI, and IU in Bloomington, Indiana. He earned his Master of Divinity from Oakland City University in Oakland City, Indiana. He held several jobs respiratory therapist, real estate broker, and, most importantly, minister of the Gospel. He preached in Indiana, Illinois, and Missouri. He was a minister for over 40 years and loved to spend time studying the Word of God. During his final years, he attended Petersburg First Baptist Church and taught Sunday School as often as he was able. He loved to talk about the Lord.
He is survived by his wife of 53 years, Lavon (Miller) Dees; daughters, Kristi (Richard) Branaman and Jenny (Todd) Williams; grandchildren, Darrell Branaman, Robbie Branaman, Ryan Branaman, Caydyn Williams and Brinley Williams. He was preceded in death by his parents and his seven siblings.
Services were held in June at Petersburg First Baptist Church in Petersburg, Indiana with burial following at Pleasant Ridge cemetery.
