Josie Louis Emily, 23, and Christian Rivers Muse, 23, both of the 800 block of Oakhill Boulevard, were arrested Thursday, July 1, on Washington County warrants for abuse or neglect of a child. They were booked at the Butler County jail.

Thursday, July 1, a second-degree burglary was reported in the 900 block of Lela. When the resident arrived at the address, the curtains appeared to be moving. He went next door to call police before entering the property. Upon returning, he watched two unknown black males in their 20s and 30s and a teenager flee the scene. When police entered the house, a window had been broken and burns were on the living room carpet and a mattress in the back bedroom.

The Poplar Bluff Housing Authority reported Friday, June 25, a rear window was broken at 306 North C St., but it appeared no one made entry into the residence.

At 5:17 p.m. Saturday, June 26, employees at 10 Box reported a white male, later identified as Brandon Sullivan, 18, of Poplar Bluff stole $53.78 worth of merchandise and left the store. He was contacted at his residence and issued a criminal summons for stealing.

Walmart Supercenter employees reported at 9 a.m. Wednesday, June 30, a white male attempted to leave the store without paying for $354.91 of merchandise. When confronted, he fled the store without the merchandise.

A wallet belonging to Mackenzie Ellis was found in the 1300 block of West Maud Street at 9:47 a.m. Thursday, July 1. When it was returned to Ellis, she said it was taken from her mother’s residence in the 1100 block of West Maud Street. Images from surveillance video footage were shared on social media, and a possible suspect was identified.

Michael Cook reported at 2:29 p.m. Thursday, July 1, two forged checks had been passed on the Lemonade House Grille account.

Kalynn Hunter of the 2000 block of Wallace Street reported at 1:23 a.m. Friday, July 2, someone shot at her vehicle, threw rocks at the front window of her residence and shot at the front of the house. No one was at the residence when the shots were fired. Hunter said the violence stemmed from a disturbance at her residence earlier in the day.

POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
Firefighters responded at 4:11 p.m. Thursday, July 1, to an accident involving a bicycle and a car in the 700 block of North Westwood Blvd. and Spring Street. The call was cancelled at 4:16 p.m. after police arrived at the scene.
