Nance Cox, 78, of Whitewater, formerly of Poplar Bluff, passed away Sunday, June 27, 2021 at Life Care Center in Cape Girardeau.

She was born July 17, 1942, in Puxico, Missouri, daughter of Clyde and Cora Nance Wilson. She and Dennis Cox were married Sept. 13, 1959 in Poplar Bluff. He passed away June 9, 2002.

Nance was a 1960 graduate of Poplar Bluff High School. She owned and operated Brownie’s Child Care Center in Poplar Bluff for 37 years, retiring in 2001. Nance was a wonderful care-giver; the center was her life, not a business. She loved each child as her own. She relished in each child’s success and grieved every one that was lost. In retirement, she enjoyed traveling with her “sisters” Evelyn Whitworth and Maurine Brown.

Loving survivors include one daughter, Janice (Robert) Arnold of Whitewater; a granddaughter, Whitney (Donnie) Bradley of Chaffee; a grandson, Brandon Arnold of Whitewater and two great-grandchildren, Oliver and Mackenzie Bradley.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; a son, Richard Cox and a brother, C.M. Wilson.

A memorial visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, July 11, at McCombs Funeral Home and Cremation Center in Jackson.

Memorials may take the form of contributions to Poplar Bluff Municipal Library, 318 N. Main, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901 or to Margaret Harwell Art Museum, 421 N. Main, Poplar Bluff, MO 63901.
