A Fisk man was arrested Monday evening on suspicion of two felony charges after a reported argument via text turned physical.

Jacob L. Wilson, 23, of Fisk has been charged with the Class D felony of second-degree assault, the Class E felony of unlawful use of a weapon and the unclassified felony of armed criminal action.

According to Butler County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Wesley Popp, Wilson and another man, Austin Brown, reportedly engaged in a texting altercation that escalated when Wilson reportedly knocked on Brown’s door in the 3800 block of Highway 51 in Fisk.

Wilson reportedly was armed with a handgun, and he and Brown engaged in a physical altercation that resulted in Wilson reportedly pistol-whipping Brown, who received lacerations as a result.

According to the probable cause statement filed by Butler County Sheriff’s Deputy Kaleb Johnson Tuesday, he was dispatched to a residence in the 3800 block of Highway 51 in Fisk in reference to an assault involving a firearm. When Johnson arrived at the residence, he made contact with Brown, who resides there.

Johnson said Brown told him that Wilson came to the residence shortly after 7 p.m. Monday. Brown told Johnson that Wilson knocked on his door and when Brown opened the door, he saw Wilson allegedly was armed with a pistol which he described as a gray 1911 9mm semi-automatic.

Brown then told Johnson he and Wilson immediately engaged in an argument and that during the argument, Wilson allegedly pulled the hammer back on the pistol. Brown said he feared for his safety and attempted to disarm Wilson, which led to them engaging in a physical altercation.

The alledged altercation began at the front door of the residence and continued into the front yard, with Wilson reportedly striking Brown across the back of the head multiple times with the firearm. Brown was able to disengage from the fight, at which point Wilson reportedly raised the pistol and fired a single shot into the ground before getting in his car, a gray Ford Mustang, and leaving Brown’s residence.

Additionally, Johnson said that a neighbor of Brown’s informed Johnson she had heard a loud pop that sounded like a gunshot and she saw a male subject leave the residence fleeing the scene in a gray Ford Mustang.

Johnson later located Wilson at his residence in the 100 block of Emma Street and arrested him at 9:16 p.m. Monday.

Wilson currently is being held at the Butler County jail on $50,000 bond.
