Vermell Catherine Sanders went to her eternal reward on June 25, 2021 in Willard, Missouri. She was born November 24, 1936 in Clayborn Arkansas, to the late Jesse & Eva Foust. Her childhood was spent in the companion of her eight siblings in Heber Springs, Arkansas. She was united in marriage to Ernest Ray Sanders in 1957. Starting their family in St. Louis and then making their home in Broseley, Missouri, Ernie and Vermell delighted in their three daughters and grandchildren until Ernie’s passing in 1988. After his passing, she continued to honor her vows until they reunited in heaven. She was a gifted hair stylist in her early career and then went on to have a second successful career as a pharmacy tech until her retirement from PBRMC in 2011. Vermell’s love for her savior, Jesus Christ, Gospel Quartet music, and the St. Louis Cardinals will be her legacy. Vermell enjoyed many trips to Quartet conventions over the years with her special traveling companion and sister-in-law, Wanda Sanders.
She is survived by her daughters, June Sanders of Bolivar, Missouri & Julie (John) Pierce of Summerville, South Carolina; her brothers, Doy (Pat) Foust & Lewis (Melissa) Foust of Poplar Bluff; four grandchildren, Jeremy (Sarah) Brotherton of Republic, Missouri, Jarred (Jessica) Brotherton of Springfield, Missouri, Garrett (McKenzie) Pierce of Cincinnati, Ohio and Jackie (Matt) Hasenour of Jasper, Indiana and seven great-grandchildren.
Vermell was also preceded in death by her daughter, Catherine Sanders and six siblings.
Visitation will begin Tuesday June 29 at 6 p.m. at White-Sanders Funeral Home in Fisk. A celebration of her life will be at 10 a.m. Wednesday in the funeral home chapel with burial to follow at Brown Chapel Cemetery in Broseley. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that expressions of condolence be made in Vermell’s memory to the Alzheimer’s Association or the American Cancer Society.
