Clement Wayne ‘Clem’ Root, 85, of Little River, Kansas, passed away June 17, 2021 at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home in Little River. He was born August 5, 1935 in Geneseo, Kansas, the son of Roy ‘Red’ and Hazel Root.
Clem resided in Lyons, Kansas for the past 21 years, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri. Clem was a diesel mechanic his entire life. He initially worked for Ruan, Meredith Trucking and moved on to form his own business at East Side Truck Service in Casper, Wyoming. Clem was a member of the First United Methodist Church, Lyons, lifetime member of the Masonic Lodge #15 of Casper, Wyoming, Lodge #209 of Poplar Bluff, Missouri and Lodge #171 of Sterling, Kansas. He also belonged to the Knights Templar and Shriners.
On August 15, 1952, Clem was united in marriage with Beverly Nadine Kelley. She preceded him in death on November 4, 2019. He is also preceded in death by his parents and sister, Ruthie Bandich.
Clem is survived by his son, Clement Wayne ‘Butch’ Root Jr. of Casper, Wyoming; daughter, Vivian Marie Mackowski and husband, Robert (both of whom served in the U.S. Navy) of Clinton, Tennessee; two grandchildren, Taylor Wayne Root and Alisa Shepard and two great-grandchildren, Kelley Ray and Elsa Shepard.
A private family service will be held at a late date in Casper, Wyoming. Memorials may be given to the poorest of poor at the Southwest Indian Foundation, P.O. Box 86, Gallup, NM 87302 in care of Birzer Funeral Home, Lyons.
