Zocara McDonald, 38, of Poplar Bluff was arrested Thursday, June 17, in the 1000 block of South Broadway on Stoddard County failure to appear warrants for passing back checks. McDonald was booked into the Butler County jail.

Officers responded at 3:50 p.m. Thursday, June 17, to the 300 block of North Westwood Boulevard in reference to someone leaving the scene of an accident. The alleged victim reported a silver Volkswagen passenger vehicle struck her vehicle and fled the scene.

Police took a report at 6:40 p.m. Thursday, June 17, about a set of keys which were stolen in the 700 block of North Ninth Street.

A resident in the 700 block of North D Street reported at 4 a.m. Friday, June 18, something was thrown through a window of the residence.

Dylan Lee Crook, 26, of the 1900 block of Glendale and 1200 block of Fairmount was arrested Friday, June 18, on a Butler County warrant for possession of a control substance. Crook was a passenger in a vehicle stopped for failure to signal, inoperable license plate lights and the side brake light not properly working. He was booked into the Butler County jail.

John Carl Austin, 28, of Ellsinore was arrested Thursday, June 17, on a Butler County failure to appear warrant for stealing. He was booked into the Butler County jail.

Jennifer Lynn Scarlet, 37, of the 400 block of C Street was arrested Thursday, June 17, on suspicion of possession of marijuana/synthetic cannabinod, first-degree trespass and fourth or subsequent stealing offense within 10 years. She was booked into the Butler County jail.

POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
Poplar Bluff firefighters responded at 9:51 a.m. Thursday, June 17, to 919 Velma St., for a building fire. Three stations responded to the scene with smoke showing and a trash can burning in the front yard. They located a small fire on the kitchen floor with a pressurized water fire extinguisher.
According the report, the occupants had removed the trash can and opened the kitchen door to ventilate the smoke from the structure. Two people had small burns and three of the four complained of smoke inhalation.
Butler County Emergency Medical Services transported one to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center emergency room for further evaluation.
The home had smoke detectors but no batteries, so the fire crew removed the detectors and replaced them with working detectors.
Firefighters saw minor damage and called the building inspector. They used 20 gallons of water to put out the fire.

Firefighters made two trips Thursday, June 17 to the Poplar Bluff High School, 3209 Oak Grove Road, for malfunctioning smoke detectors.
The first trip was at 10:20 p.m. Firefighters used the key in the knox box to enter the building to investigate and found the alarming malfunctioning. The keyholder reset the alarm.
Firefighters received a second alarm at 1:21 a.m. Friday, June 18, at the high school.
Upon arrival, they found the alarming malfunctioning. The keyholder placed the alarm on trouble mode.
