Marvin Knuckles, age 92, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, departed this life on Sunday, May 30, 2021, in Nixa, Missouri. Marvin was born on September 6, 1928, in Shannon County, Missouri to the late Sterling Price Knuckles and Florence (Sconce) Knuckles.
He was a beloved husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, son, and follower of Christ. He was a member of First Baptist Church, Poplar Bluff, Missouri, where he served as a deacon and Sunday school teacher.
After attending Eminence High School, Marvin worked in a sawmill and also played instruments in a country music band. He was drafted in 1950, served two years in the U.S. Army in Korea and attained the rank of Master Sergeant. After leaving military service, Marvin worked for 38 years as a pipefitter with Local 562 in the St. Louis area.
He is survived by one daughter, Pamela Correll of Nixa; two sons, Stephen Knuckles (Vickie) of Albany, Georgia and Kevin Knuckles (Brenda) of Crossville, Illinois; eleven grandchildren, Shawn Halligan (Jennifer) of Liberty, Missouri, Matthew Halligan (Christine) of Annapolis, Maryland, Jason Halligan (Laura) of Lexington, Kentucky, Sarah Morgan (TA) of Atlanta, Georgia, Anna Eidson (Ben) of Valdosta, Georgia, Rachel Pearson (Will) of Adairsville, Georgia, Ryan Halligan (Allison) of Winchester, Kentucky, Conner Knuckles of Albany, Georgia, Isaac, Adam and GraceElizabeth Knuckles of Crossville, Illinois; nine great-grandchildren, John Cassin, Winnifred Halligan, Rushton, Griffin and Westlyn Pearson, Kate, Judah, Lila and Drew Eidson; one brother, George Knuckles of Buffalo, Missouri and a host of family and friends.
Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of sixty-five years and mother of his children, Doris (Jeremiah) Knuckles; five brothers, Ray, Walter, Milo, Don and Bobby Dale Knuckles; five sisters, Pauline Allison, Wilma Tucker, Bernice Simpson, Genevieve Clark and Virginia Sutton and a grandson, Patrick Halligan.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, June 5, 2021 at First Baptist Church, Eminence, Missouri with Pastor Paul Wellinghoff officiating under the direction of Yarber Mortuary, Eminence. Visitation will be held prior to the service from 1-2 p.m. also at First Baptist Church. Interment will be in New Eminence Cemetery in Eminence, Missouri.
