A Doniphan man is dead and a Harviell woman is in serious condition following a wrong-way car crash Monday night on Highway 67.
The accident occurred shortly after 9:30 p.m., two miles south of Poplar Bluff, according to the Missouri State Highway Patrol.
Barry L. Johnson, 69, died when his 2002 Chevrolet Malibu was involved in a head on collision while traveling northbound in the southbound lane, according to troopers. Johnson’s vehicle struck a 2000 Nissan Xterrra, which was being driven south by Amy L. Swofford, 40.
Johnson was pronounced dead 10:42 p.m. by Dr. Raymond Kepping at Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
Swofford, who was in serious condition, was air evacuated to St. Louis University Hospital in St. Louis,
Johnson, who is the 23 fatality in Troop E, was wearing a safety device and Swofford was not, reports stated.
