Poplar Bluff police say the fourth shooting reported in the past 10 days is likely not related to incidents last week.
Poplar Bluff police responded to a at 10:22 p.m. Thursday to a report of shots fired in the area of South Broadway at Victor Street.
Police made contact with a witness, who reported the driver of a silver Volkswagen Passat shot at her vehicle while she was traveling in the 300 block of West Victor Street.
Police are investigating the incident, but PBPD Capt. David Sutton said Thursday’s incident does not appear to be connected to a trio of shootings that happened in Poplar Bluff last week.
The first shooting happened Tuesday, May 11, in the vicinity of Garfield and Mary streets. It left three people with gunshot wounds and one of those seriously injured. Monshun J. Johnson, 32, of the 800 block of Vine Street and the 1500 block of Coolidge Street, was taken to a St. Louis hospital to be treated for his wounds. The names of the other two victims have not been released and the investigation into the incident continues.
Two nights later, another shooting occurred in the area of Ferguson Grove Park, near Lois and Selma streets. That incident sent two gunshot victims to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.
The next morning, two females were shot in the 1100 block of Fairmount and suffered minor injuries. Dexter L. Dennis, 32, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at the scene of that shooting. He is suspected of committing that shooting and also of being the shooter in the incident near Ferguson Grove Park.
Names of the victims in the Ferguson Grove and Fairmount shootings have not been released.
