Robert ‘Bob’ Dickerson, Sr., 84, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away Monday, May 10, 2021 at Oakdale Care Center.
Mr. Dickerson was born December 13, 1936 to James Sylvester and Myrtle Irene (Morse) Dickerson in Morehouse, Missouri. He married his one and only love, Mary Joan Kane, on July 27, 1957 in Morehouse. She survives.
Mr. Dickerson was member of First United Methodist Church in Poplar Bluff. He was a microbiologist and Chief Director of the Missouri Division of Health in Southeast Missouri for over 30 years. Bob was an avid fan of spectator sports, especially basketball, baseball and football. He was a huge St. Louis Cardinals fan. In his younger years, he enjoyed tinkering on automobiles and small engines of any sort. But, most of all, Bob enjoyed spending time with his family.
In addition to his loving wife of 63 years, Bob is survived by three children, Dale (Robyn) Dickerson of Poplar Bluff, Teri (Steve) Cobb of Murray, Kentucky and Tracy (Jace) Huffman of Columbia, Missouri; six grandchildren, Natalie (her fiancé, Aaron Stucker) Dickerson, Cole Dickerson and Lauren Dickerson, all of Poplar Bluff, Ryan (Rachel) Cobb of Madison, Alabama, Bradley (Jill) Cobb of Louisville, Kentucky and Cody (Rebekah) Samuelson of Columbia, Missouri and seven great-grandchildren.
Mr. Dickerson was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Ronnie, and Jay Dickerson and a sister, Evelyn Taylor.
The family will receive friends on Friday, May 14 from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Willow Ridge Funeral & Cremation Services. A private family funeral service will be held with burial in the Poplar Bluff City Cemetery.
