A Fisk man wanted on a federal U.S. Marshal’s detainer warrant and various Stoddard County warrants was arrested Thursday in a joint operation involving a variety of local, county, state and federal agencies.

Michael S. Ryan, 36, was taken into custody Thursday at a Fisk residence after he allegedly fled from Dexter police officers.

According to a press release from Dexter Police Capt. Joshua Benton, information was obtained Ryan was in the Dexter area and officers there began searching for him.

“Officers located the vehicle Ryan was occupying and identified him as the driver,” Benton said. “Officers initiated a traffic stop on Ryan’s vehicle in the city limits of Dexter, at which time he fled from officers. A motor vehicle pursuit ensued and traveled throughout portions of Stoddard County rural areas. During the pursuit, Ryan lost control of his vehicle on Stoddard County Road 483 near County Road 408. As officers approached the vehicle, he was not in the vehicle and appeared to have fled on foot.”

Dexter PD’s canine unit tracked the suspect until determining he was no longer in the area and had possibly been picked up by a vehicle. After a lengthy investigation, Ryan was located and apprehended in a Fisk residence and placed into custody without incident.

Ryan was transported to the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, where he is being held pending court proceedings. He is being held on a Stoddard County warrant for possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest, unlawful use of a weapon and stealing. He also is being held on a U.S. Marshall’s detainer warrant for felon in possession of a firearm and ammunitions.

Dexter P.D. officers were working a joint operation with the U.S. Marshals Service and the A.T.F. in attempting to locate the suspect.

The Dexter Police Department thanked the Stoddard County Sheriff’s Department, the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the Butler County Sheriff’s Department, the Missouri Department of Conservation, Puxico Police Department, the U.S. Marshal’s Service and the A.T.F. for their assistance in apprehending Ryan.
