Neelyville High School senior Makenzie Davis was selected winner of the Poplar Bluff Chapter National Society Daughters of the American Revolution Good Citizens Award.
She was honored with a reception at the April 8 chapter meeting, along with her parents, Shannon and Steve Davis, and Neelyville High School Counselor Julie Cloud.
Makenzie is graduating with a stellar academic record. She played on the Neelyville Tigers basketball team and has actively served her school and community during her high school years.
The DAR Good Citizens Committee’s goal is to recognize high school seniors who demonstrate the four qualities of a good citizen: dependability, service to others, leadership and patriotism. Makenzie demonstrates all these attributes. In addition, she participated in the DAR Good Citizens Essay contest, where the student receives the essay topic in a sealed envelope, then has two hours to develop and refine her essay.
