A union representing VA employees is holding a nationwide movement Wednesday, the Workers Memorial Day Action.
Workers across the country will assemble to honor the lives of VA workers and veterans lost to COVID-19, fight for better workplace protections, and demand a fair contract, according to members the American Federation of Government Employees’ National VA Council. These actions will include rallies, petition deliveries, and balloon releases in Milwaukee, Leavenworth, St. Louis, North Las Vegas, Chillicothe, Minneapolis, Hampton, Poplar Bluff and Riverside, among other towns.
The union represents over 265,000 VA workers, including AFGE Local 2338. AFGE Local 2338 members will rally outside of Congress member Jason Smith’s office in Poplar Bluff at 10 a.m. Wednesday to demand immediate action to rectify the ongoing exposure of mold at the facility, members of the group said.
