A Poplar Bluff woman was killed Sunday when she was struck by a vehicle on Highway 51.
According to the Missouri State Highway Patrol, the accident occurred at approximately 8:20 p.m.
Melissa Mayo, 36, was walking on the highway four miles north of Broseley, when she was struck by a southbound 1999 GMC Sierra, troopers report.
The truck was driven by a 17-year-old male from Qulin, according to the MSHP.
Mayo was pronounced dead at the scene by Assistant Butler County Coroner Ryan Thurman.
Mayo is the 16th fatality in Troop E for 2021.
