According to information released by the Tulsa Press Club, DAR staff members Barbara Ann Horton, Brian Rosener, Donna Farley, Michael Shine, Michelle Friedrich, Mike Buhler, Nancy Nelson Vines, Paul Davis and Scott Borkgren are among the finalists for the competition.
Winners will be announced in a virtual ceremony at 11:30 a.m. May 7.
For the 12th-consecutive year, the regional contest is honoring print, online, TV and magazine journalists for outstanding stories, photography and design, according to the Tulsa Press Club, which sponsors the contest. The eight-state competition includes Oklahoma, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, Nebraska, Iowa, North Dakota and South Dakota.
“Our staff worked on many projects in 2020 for which we are proud,” said Editor Donna Farley. “We hope that our extensive coverage of the pandemic helped keep our readers informed about important health matters in our region, and that projects like the annual Difference Makers magazine help highlight the many good things going on in our communities.”
