The Poplar Bluff R-I school board reorganized after Tuesday’s local elections with the members and leadership identical to the board’s previous makeup.
Ken Davis and Tim Gaebler both won re-election for their seats on the board.
In Thursday’s special open meeting that was called for the reorganization, board president John Scott was re-elected to another term as president.
Scott stated that his vision for the board “is to continue the hard work we’ve accomplished over the last several years and work with Dr. Dill in improving our educational experience for all of our kids.”
“That’s the number one priority: safety, security, and education for all,” Scott said.
The former slate of officers was also re-elected, with Davis continuing to serve as vice-president, and Alana Robertson serving another term as board secretary.
The board, which met with a quorum of four with three members absent, also voted to leave each member serving in their previous committee assignments.
Superintendent Dr. Scott Dill spoke about how the board supports his mission in leading the Poplar Bluff R-I school district.
“They are our representatives in the community,” Dill said. “I take the input that my board offers me in making the important decisions that are necessary to ensure that the direction in which I am taking the district is in line with community values and expectations.”
Scott commented on his upcoming goals as board president, stating, “We want to work toward some building projects that we’re working on and continue to be good stewards of the taxpayer’s money.”
Scott added, “We want to make certain that the youth of Poplar Bluff have the best educational opportunities they could have.”
Dill offered further praise for the board’s efforts in improving education, saying, “The school district is thriving right now. Despite everything going on in the world, we are achieving at the highest levels and that begins with the board.”
“We are all in this together, and the strength of the district is that we are all pulling in the same direction,” Dill said.
