City firefighters responded to a pair of dumpster fires at 12:53 a.m. Thursday, April 8, one behind Walgreens and one behind Kyle’s Car Wash. According to the report, firefighters used a total of 2,015 gallons of water to extinguish both fires.

City firefighters responded to a report of a large plume of smoke on the east side of Poplar Bluff at 4:31 p.m. Wednesday, April 7. According to the report, firefighters found that the source of smoke was farmers burning off a field.

BUTLER COUNTY SHERIFF’S OFFICE

Deputies responded to a report of a dangerous dog in the 400 block of Fourth Street in Fisk at 11:13 a.m. Saturday, April 3. After investigation, according to the report, it was determined the dog had allegedly bitten several people and attacked several animals over a period of time. Deputies reportedly advised the dog’s owner, Rondall S. Brown, 41, of Fisk to quarantine his dog for 10 business days.

Darius D. Thomas, 30, of the 1300 block of 10th Street, was booked at the Butler County jail Wednesday, April 7, on suspicion of possession of a controlled substance.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL

Tressa F. Stough, 60, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 1:16 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in Butler County on suspicion of DWI and failure to drive on the right side of the roadway. She was booked at the Butler County jail on a 12-hour hold.

Tyson C. Hensley, 33, of Bloomfield was arrested at 10:10 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, in Stoddard County on suspicion of DWI. He was released.

Tammy J. Hillis, 50, of Poplar Bluff was arrested at 2:06 a.m. Thursday, April 8, in Butler County on suspicion of DWI, failure to drive on the right side of the roadway and no insurance. She was booked at the Butler County jail on a 12-hour hold.

A 56-year-old woman suffered moderate injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 1 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, at the intersection of Highway T and U.S. Highway 60, two miles east of Poplar Bluff.

According to the report, Shelli R. Donley, 56, of Harviell, was operating a 2015 GMC Acadia westbound onto Highway T when she failed to yield to a southbound 2018 Chevrolet 2500 operated by Mark O. Crews, 31, of Poplar Bluff, resulting in Crews' vehicle striking Donley's vehicle. A guard rail along the highway also was damaged.

Donley was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

A 31-year-old woman suffered minor injuries in a two-vehicle accident at 4:25 p.m. Wednesday, April 7, on U.S. Highway 67, seven miles north of Poplar Bluff.

According to the report, Dillon R. Rice, 29, of Campbell was operating a 2008 Chevrolet Impala northbound on Highway 67 when it struck a northbound 2012 Ford F-150 in the rear that was operated by Robert L. Hughey, 73, of Williamsville.

Samantha A. Thomas, 31, of Campbell, who was a passenger in Rice’s vehicle, suffered minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center.

BUTLER COUNTY FIRE DEPARTMENT

County firefighters responded to a woods fire at 2:38 p.m. Saturday, April 3, on land owned by Mark Kennedy on Moccasin Lane.

According to the report, the fire burned about two acres.

County firefighters responded to a grass fire at 2:18 p.m. Sunday, April 4, on land owned by Richard Selvidge at 18 County Road 466.

According to the report, the fire burned about one acre.

County firefighters responded to a motor vehicle accident at 11:58 a.m. Monday, April 5, on U.S. Highway 67, just south of County Road 401.

According to the report, no tools were needed and it was out upon arrival.

According to the report, a Chevrolet Tahoe owned by Dylan White was a total loss.

Editor's note: In the Wednesday, April 14, edition of the Daily American Republic, it was incorrectly reported that Mark O. Crews, 31, of Poplar Bluff failed to yield to a southbound vehicle in an accident at the intersection of U.S. Highway 60 and Highway T on Wednesday, April 7.

The correct information is that a westbound vehicle failed to yield to Crews.
