Harold Eugene McDaniel, 87, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away Saturday, March 27, 2021.
Harold was born July 11, 1933 to Leon and Mavis (Billington) McDaniel. He and Alice Faye Morris were married July 8, 1958 in Grayville, Illinois. She survives.
Harold was inducted into the United States Marine Corps on April 12, 1954. He was honorably discharged May 31, 1977 after 23 years of active service, including combat duty in Korea and Vietnam. He reached the rank of Master Gunnery Sergeant and was awarded the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, National Defense Service Medal, and numerous citations for meritorious service.
Harold enjoyed fishing and wood working. He loved spending time with his friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He was a member of the American Legion, VFW, AmVets, and Elks Lodge.
In addition to his loving wife, Harold is survived by two daughters, Kathleen (Gary Meltz) McDaniel of St. Louis, Kimberly Sandler of Poplar Bluff; three grandchildren, Christopher (Alicia) Park of St. Louis, Veronica (Aaron) Everly of Columbia, Missouri and Samuel Sandler of Poplar Bluff; four great-grandchildren, Roman, Hope and Dominick Park, all of St. Louis, and Declan Harold Everly of Columbia, Missouri; and a brother, Gerald (Betty) McDaniel of Fairdealing.
In addition to his parents, Harold was preceded in death by a brother, Robert McDaniel.
Visitation will be held Thursday, April 1 from 10 a.m. until time of service at Willow Ridge Funeral and Cremation Service. Funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. at the funeral home. Burial will follow at 1 p.m. at the Missouri Veterans Cemetery in Bloomfield with full military honors.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to a charity of choice.
