POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT
City firefighters responded at 11:25 a.m. Monday, March 29, to a report of a structure fire at 711 South Ninth Street. According to the report, firefighters observed light smoke coming from the crawl space at the front of the house. Upon investigation, they discovered a small fire where the porch connected to the house, believed to be caused by a cigarette. They extinguished fire using two gallons of water, deployed fans to clear smoke and cleared the scene.

City firefighters responded at 3:06 p.m. Monday, March 29, to a report of a woods fire behind McCoy’s Scrap Metal at 635. South Sixth Street. According to the report, firefighters arrived and found a small section of woods with an old semi-trailer located within them on fire. Crews contained the fire using 1,000 gallons of water. After fire was contained, crews remained on scene in the event of hot spots, and when the location was secure, they cleared the scene.

City firefighters responded at 3:27 p.m. Monday, March 29, to a report of a fire alarm at Fresenius Kidney Care, located at 3050 Tucker Road. According to the report, while en-route, crews were notified it was a false alarm. Upon arrival, crews consulted with an employee and were informed the business was having problems with the sprinkler system which caused the alarm.

City firefighters responded at 7:41 p.m. Monday, March 29, to a report of an unauthorized fire at 732 Kinzer. According to the report, upon arrival crews discovered the owner burning brush. Crews extinguished the fire using 50 gallons of water and informed the owner of the city’s burning ordinance.

City firefighters responded at 7:52 p.m. Monday, March 29, to a report of a fire in the turning lane at 1324 N. Westwood. According to the report, while en-route, the Poplar Bluff Police Department, who had arrived on scene, informed firefighters there was no fire and only a piece of plywood in the turning lane.

City firefighters responded at 3:12 a.m. Tuesday, March 30, to a report of an unauthorized fire in the area of Sanders and Relief streets. According to the report, crews discovered an unauthorized fire at 623 Sanders. Firefighters extinguished the fire using 50 gallons of water and cleared the scene.

John Maynard Bradley, 50, of Cape Girardeau was booked at the Butler County jail Monday, March 29, on two failure to appear warrants for operating a motor vehicle without financial responsibility and tampering with physical evidence.

Mitchell Allen Costephens, 33, of Blytheville, Arkansas, was booked at the Butler County jail Monday, March 29, on suspicion of exceeding the posted speed limit.

Amanda Nila Fox, 40, of the 900 block of 11th Street was booked at the Butler County jail Monday, March 29, on suspicion of stealing, fourth offense within 10 years.

Steven Joseph Kimbrel, 31, of Wappapello was booked at the Butler County jail Monday, March 29, on suspicion of operating a motorcycle without a valid license, operating motor vehicle without maintaining financial responsibility and stealing leased or rented property.

Michael Bruce Rushing, 30, of the 100 block of Angelia Street was booked at the Butler County jail on Monday, March 29, on two capias warrants for first-degree domestic assault and first-degree endangering the welfare of a child.

MISSOURI STATE HIGHWAY PATROL
David S. Doucet, 56, of Simpson, Louisiana, was arrested at 2:21 p.m. Monday, March 29, on a failure to appear warrant from Sikeston DPS for stealing. Doucet was booked at the Butler County jail.

Kenneth L. Jones, 72, of Poplar Bluff, was arrested at 1:16 p.m. Monday, March 29, on suspicion of DWI and careless and imprudent driving. He was booked at the Stoddard County Jail and released.
