Rev. Vaughn M. Kirkman, 82, of Williamsville, formerly of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, went to be with our Heavenly Father on Tuesday, March 23, 2021 at his residence after a five-month battle with lung cancer.
He was born August 13, 1938 to the late M.P. ‘Buck’ and Della Kirkman. He was born and raised in the Rombauer area and attended school at Junland and Fisk. He enjoyed hunting and fishing and being outside with family and friends. He was ordained and licensed to preach the Gospel of Jesus Christ in 1986 at Little Brushy Baptist Church in Wappapello. He pastored churches in Wappapello, Williamsville and Poplar Bluff. His last pastorate was for 14 years at Trinity Baptist Church in Poplar Bluff where he remained a member. He resigned due to health reasons. He was also a well-known VW mechanic in the Poplar Bluff area for over 30 years. He married his wife of 61 years, Glenda (McGowen) Kirkman on January 9, 1960. She survives.
He is also survived by three children, Debbi (Jim) Plunkett, Karri (Eddie) Redmond and Tim (Terry) Kirkman. Also surviving are ten grandchildren, Tabitha Thomas, Drew Janes, Scott Janes, Jessica Davis, Rachel Lacy, Mika Kirkman, Kelli Plunkett, Logan Plunkett, Vanessa Redmond and Josh Redmond; 17 great-grandchildren; one brother, Bob Kirkman; one sister, Sue Little and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Ralph Kirkman.
Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 27 at White Sanders Funeral Home. Funeral services will follow at 11 a.m. in the funeral home chapel with his son in law, Eddie Redmond officiating. Burial will be in Ash Hill Cemetery in Fisk. Condolences: www.whitesandersfuneralhome.com
