Marita Wilson, 86, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri passed away Monday, March 8, 2021 at Westwood Hills Health & Rehabilitation in Poplar Bluff.

She was born on October 27, 1934 to Jesse and Katie (Clemons) Hayman in Harviell, Missouri and married James O. Wilson on July 16 1955, in St. Louis, Missouri.

Marita was a long time member of the Seventh Day Adventist Church. She graduated from Sunnydale Adventist Academy in 1952. She enjoyed spending time with her friends and family. Anytime she could have a good laugh or conversation she was happy. She was also an avid reader.

Marita is survived by three daughters, JoAnna (Rodney) Barker of Poplar Bluff, Karen Lynne Wilson of Springfield, Virginia and Rita Marie (Durell Dean) Ferguson of Independence, Missouri; five grandchildren, Derek Dean, J.W. (Katie) Starkey, Ashley Wilson, Brock Starkey, Stacy (Jeff) Cole; two great-grandchildren, Spencer Starkey and Ian Johnson; one sister, Linda Lee Franklin of Fairfax, Virginia; one brother, Roger (Betty) Hayman of Fairdealing, Missouri; many beloved cousins, nieces, and nephews and long time special friends, Hazel Kinder, Mary Kirkley and Sandy (Gerald) Hughey.

She was preceded by her parents, husband and her only son, J. Michael Wilson.

Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Friday, March 12 at Memorial Gardens in Poplar Bluff with officiating by Pastor Kolby Beem.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
