Thomas M. Mace, 48, of the 200 block of Herin was arrested 6:18 p.m. Sunday, March 7, outside Fishin’ Pig, 1518 S. Broadway. Officers were called to the scene about a subject breaking windows. According to the report, officers asked Mace to raise his hands and he failed to and told officers to ‘shoot.’ The subject fell to the ground. He continued to struggle and was struck again with the Taser which had its intended result, the report said. Mace explained his mother was previously employed by the business and he wished to enter the building to look at various pictures. He was booked at Butler County jail under suspicion of burglary, property damage and resisting arrest.

A two-car collision occurred at 6:50 a.m. Monday, March 8, on Route PP a half-mile west of Poplar Bluff. According to the report, Cathy Hill, 27, of Poplar Bluff, was westbound in a 2006 Chrysler Town and Country when she crossed the center line and hit a 2012 Ford Explorer driven by Brittney Gray, 33, of Poplar Bluff.
Hill was transported by private vehicle to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

A single-car accident occurred at 8:50 a.m. Monday, March 8, when a vehicle driving northbound on Highway U and ran off the road.
According to the report, Maryrose Stricker, 70, was about seven miles south of Doniphan when her 2019 GMC Yukon ran off the roadway and struck a ditch.
Damage to Stricker’s car was extensive. She was transported by ambulance to Poplar Bluff Regional Medical Center with minor injuries.

Firefighters were dispatched to 510 Ashcroft Road 3:04 a.m. Monday, March 8, on a report of smoke. They found smoke coming out of wood stove behind Selvidge Machine Shop. There was no smoke in the building.

Firefighters were dispatched 8:32 a.m. Sunday, March 7, to 1426 N. Main about an unauthorized fire, a loud boom and black smoke coming from the building. They found a large pile of trash and clothing burning. According to the report, they used 20 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters were returning from a call at 10:02 p.m. Saturday, March 6, and saw smoke coming from 604 Cherry Street. They pulled up and found the building on fire. They forced entry into the building, which was vacant and boarded up. According to report, they used 1,500 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.
