Andrew Lee Hill, 20, of the 900 block of Mill Street, was arrested at 12:36 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, in the 500 block of Lester Street. According to the report, a caller reported Hill was sleeping under the stairs of the apartment. He was initially arrested for trespassing, and during a search of his body, police reportedly found a small bag of crystal substance in the right change pocket of Hill’s pants. In other pockets, they allegedly found a glass smoking pipe with white residue and a hypodermic needle. The caller said he did not want Hill charged for trespassing, according to the report. Hill was booked at Butler County jail on outstanding arrest warrants, and on suspicion of possession of amphetamine, possession of drug paraphernalia and resisting or interfering with an arrest.

Patricia Kay Morey, 39, of the 300 block of Victor Street, was arrested at 1:46 a.m. Wednesday, Feb. 24, on a warrant at Euclid Avenue and Second Avenue. She was booked at Butler County jail.

Camille N. Armes, of the 1500 block of North 14th Street, was arrested at 7:28 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, during a traffic stop on Oak Grove Road near Academy Sports, on an outstanding warrant. She was booked at Butler County jail.

BUTLER COUNTY SHERIFF’S DEPARTMENT

Kay Shawnna Chaffin, 43, of the 700 block of Regency Lane, was stopped at 11:12 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, driving a Cadillac on Highway 60 when a Butler County Sheriff’s detective observed the car’s license plate was formatted for a pickup truck. According to the report, dispatch confirmed the plate was registered to a 1999 Chevrolet pickup. The officer reportedly detected a faint smell of marijuana in the car during the stop and asked for permission to search the vehicle. He allegedly located a ‘green leafy substance’ which he believed to be marijuana. Chaffin was arrested for driving with a revoked license and possession of up to 10 grams of marijuana. She was booked at Butler County jail.

Tommy Wayne Hayes, 55, of the 1500 section of Highway 53, reported that sometime between Feb. 19 and Feb. 22, a white Metropolitan moped valued at $1,100 was removed from inside his residence. According to the report, the thief is believed to have entered the house through a bedroom window. Footprints were observed in the snow and photographed and measured, deputies reported. The moped was entered into M.U.L.E.S.

Glenn Allen Yandell, 35, of the 400 block of 6th Street, was booked Tuesday, Feb. 23, at Butler County jail for failing to appear on a charge of driving while suspended and possessing a controlled substance.

POPLAR BLUFF FIRE DEPARTMENT

City firefighters were dispatched to 200 Elm Street at 4:39 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, about an unauthorized burn and found an individual burning ‘a large pile of construction materials’ behind the building. According to the report, firefighters advised the man on the city’s fire ordinance and used 20 gallons of water to extinguish the fire.

Firefighters were requested by Poplar Bluff Police Department 11:02 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 23, to come to 505 Sycamore to help them retrieve a piece of evidence from the roof of the building. According to the report, firefighters accommodated them and cleared the scene.
